plentycast
simple Internet broadcast and on demand services with extensions.
There are deficiencies in current Internet multicast solutions. This alternative approach solves the problem under some new assumptions. The use of Internet for broadcast offers new opportunities for extended broadcast services.
The project plentycast will produce software that will enable a simple internet user to reach the entire internet with streaming media, real time and on demand. Internet broadcast becomes as simple as e-mail and world wide web. On top of that is added internet unique fuctionality.
The shortcomings of ordinary IP-multicast create a demand for a different solution. New rules in USA makes sale of streaming media possible on internet.

plentycast is another way of reaching many recipients |
There has been, since 1992 at the advent of Internet, a technology called multicast which is a way to enable broadcast over Internet. This technology is implemented on all major operating systems however the infrastructure is not yet established. In order to use multicast special software and special configurations has to be done in the routers. The Internet as a whole is not configured for multicast today. There is no way to ensure that data arrives at the recipient with multicast. Our technology makes multicast obsolete. Our technology can be likened as an alternative to multicast with no extra requirements on the presently available global Internet network and without any of the limitations of multicast.
